Telehealth Sessions-Do they work?

If you had told me 5 months ago that I would be providing telehealth sessions and working virtually with my clients, I would have said, “no way.” How could I do the work I love so much without being in the same room with my clients? How would they work through their stories and begin to create a new narrative? How would grief work translate onto virtual platforms?

In truth, it works, and it works very well. I provide sessions that allow my clients to have more flexibility with their time and space. Clients report an initial awkwardness, the same kind of awkwardness, or perhaps excitement, that comes when you first meet anyone new. After that, we are able to explore the therapeutic work, to feel safe, and to navigate through some very challenging times together.

Telehealth appointments, in some ways, feel both safer and more vulnerable at the same time.

These appointments will allow you to focus on your feelings, motivation, and self-care while we delve into your story. As Brene Brown says, “We can own our stories, or our stories can own us.” Allowing me to be witness to your story and create your own courageous new twist to your story will be incredibly powerful as we work together.
